Synthesis: the spiritual movements of nature (good or not) are divine, and Judas is a component that materializes the Catholic Church as the Gospel, as people living in community and living full experiences, just as happens in a Sangha. It does not ultimately matter whether Judas existed historically or not. Good essay 🤘🏻Gassho

Please find a completely different Understanding of the life and teaching of Saint Jesus of Galilee who was not in any sense a Christian, nor did he found the religion (and) church about him. A church which is now primarily a power-and-control-seeking political entity.

Jesus was scathingly critical of the ecclesiastical establishment in his time and place. He was thus executed as a common trouble-making criminal - end of story.

The presumed "resurrection" did not occur, nor did Saint Jesus give the so called great commission to convert the entire human world to the "one true way"

I would suggest Judas is one of the most misunderstood apostles. He was a true believer, but he believed as a zealot (Sicarii) and a materialist. By some accounts, he was something of a sex-addict, and even made a pass at Jesus. His condemnation of the woman breaking the precious perfume on Christ's feet was a double outrage: a repentant unclean woman and the money could not have to feel good as the administer of their funds. As the holder of the purse strings, he cared most about money and a literal historical kingdom.

I believe his betrayal was sincere. He believed God would intervene to save Jesus. When he didn't, Judas sincerely repented — and then hanged himself. But a materialist can only believe as a materialist. Judas did not die a saint, or his body would have spontaneously been preserved ("incorruptiblity" of the saints) whereas it's very specific that he bloated and his guts exploded. Paramhansa Yogananda suggests that Judas had a long journey to redemption, but was finally restored by the 20th century. While I can neither confirm nor deny that, the story of Judas is the story of 1/12th of us
