Holy Saturday Announcement
Dear Readers,
After careful consideration, some prayers, and advice from close friends, I've reached a decision: I'm taking steps to monetize this newsletter.
Since transitioning to Substack in early 2022, I've deliberately kept financial matters away from this site. This newsletter is my baby, and I grew up very uncomfortable with money as a goal. I guess that’s why my Gods decided to throw me into working for financial institutions (haha). It hasn't been a comfortable transition, being something like a death and a continuing silence. It also coincides with my country’s worsening economy. I’m painfully realizing how the materiality of my context can frustrate my ideals and reshape my desires.
Beginning immediately, I'm committing to delivering a minimum of one post per week, scheduled for weekends—either Saturday or Sunday. That translates to an average of four posts per month, with three exclusive to paid subscribers. Additionally, spontaneous posts may appear during the week, addressing topics I am thinking about as they come up. These will be freely available. All content posted before this decision will also remain freely available.
To access the exclusive content, I've set the subscription fee at the Substack minimum: $5 per month or $50 annually.
Looking ahead, I will delve deeper into theological interpretations of various myths and stories, expanding beyond my recent explorations of the Bible to include Yoruba myths, Quran passages, Platonic dialogues, among others. One project I've long anticipated is applying this method to the book of Revelation, and I believe I am ready to start that. Additionally, I want to explore contemporary narratives and fiction, particularly within my favourite popular fantasy franchises.
Furthermore, I'll continue to explore metaphysics, including questions about time, the concept of a "monad," causation, and the physical world. These explorations into metaphysics intertwine with my hermeneutical pursuits, since we do live in an ecology of stories that reveal their own metaphysics; stories we can inquire about, interrogate, and study, as required. This is what schools like Feminism do. A Platonism for today should do the same.
Thank you all for accompanying me on this journey thus far. Your support means a lot to me, and I hope you'll continue to join me as we venture into this new phase together.
Hail Mary
