A diary for my Intellect, a mask for my soul, a discipline for my body.

This is where my more organized thoughts on Metaphysics (in the broad sense) will end up. Because it is on Metaphysics, it will invariably cover all possible topics as peripheral entrances into core metaphysical themes. These include all branches of the natural sciences, literature (religious or otherwise), comparative religion, film, and whatever else I find interesting at that moment. What should be clear is that no matter the topic, there is always a connection to what Frithjof Schuon would call “the one thing needful”, and I am always thinking about what this “one thing” is and what it entails. For all his faults, he always reminds you of that in his books, and writing here is my little craft in service of this “remembrance”.

A little history

This is my third blog. The first was a “general attempt to be general”. As I grew a little older though, I began writing almost exclusively about metaphysics, particularly of the (Neo)Platonic kind, as well as developing an almost devotional focus on the Perennialist metaphysics of Frithjof Schuon, rounded off with the stabilizing influence of David Bentley Hart. This search and journey into the “Being of beings” and into the “Self” conditions all my other interests now. This substack represents the completion of that transition in lieu of all other future transitions. I also have a medium site, where some of those posts are backed up. They will remain functional for the foreseeable future, even if I will stop posting there. All my blog posts, however, from 2018 till now (December 2021), have been exported here, for ease of access, especially for my followers from the other blogs.

About Me

I am a “reluctant” Nigerian of the Yoruba tribe, very urban and so somewhat estranged from these two parts of my identity. To add to this soup of potential confusion, I am a Christian perennialist with polytheist sympathies. My journey has been a strange one in my context. I am no longer pentecostal/charismatic and I am infact churchless, so the pious beware. I will update this bio as needed when I do eventually join a church.

That is one side of me.

As for the other side, I have an MSc in Industrial Physics (Renewable Energy and Material Science) and I am currently in search of a stable job and PhD possibilities. My ultimate aim in this life is to unite these two parts of my identity: To be a Neoplatonic Physicist.

Why Subscribe?

If you like Neoplatonic metaphysics, are vaguely or seriously interested in the mixing and matching of its obscure worldview, modern Christianity, Perennialism, and pretty much everything else, then I guess this is for you. If anything, you won’t find my thoughts unable to challenge you.
